1.Measures weld dimensions

  • Width Measurement: Using the main ruler and multi-purpose ruler in combination, measure the width of the weld on both sides to ensure the weld width meets design requirements and to avoid insufficient or excessive width affecting welding strength and sealing.
  • Height Measurement: Measure the weld reinforcement (i.e., the vertical distance between the weld surface and the base metal surface), as well as the height and thickness of the fillet weld, ensuring uniform weld height and avoiding excessive or insufficient height that could lead to stress concentration or insufficient strength.
  • Gap Measurement: Measure the assembly gap between the two welded parts to ensure the gap size meets the welding process requirements. An excessively large gap may lead to welding defects, while an excessively small gap may affect welding operations.

2.Detection of welding defects

  • Undercut Depth Measurement: Detects the depth of undercuts at the junction of the weld edge and the base metal. Undercuts weaken the load-bearing capacity of the weld. Measuring the undercut depth allows for timely detection and correction of defects, preventing cracks or fractures in the weld during use.
  • Misalignment Measurement: Measures the misalignment of the base metal on both sides of the weld. Excessive misalignment affects welding quality and structural strength. Measuring the misalignment allows for adjustment of the welding process or repair.

3. Measuring the bevel angle

Used to inspect the angle of the weld groove to ensure it conforms to welding process specifications. The correct groove angle helps guarantee welding quality, improves weld penetration and fusion, and prevents defects such as incomplete penetration and slag inclusions.

4.Assists in welding process evaluation

By measuring various dimensions and parameters of the weld, it provides data support for optimizing the welding process, helping welders adjust welding parameters (such as current, voltage, welding speed, etc.), and improving welding quality and production efficiency.
